When writing Kira, these are the things I’d be keeping in mind when trying to keep her character consistent.
- She has a tendency to push back against authority, even if what the authority wanted was beneficial. She’s always going to look for her own way to do it rather than be seen to be following orders.
- She feels like an underdog herself so will have a tendency to fight for them, especially if doing that challenges authority.
- She’d be prepared to risk her own safety to prove she doesn’t need anyone’s help.
- She doesn’t like to feel emotionally exposed so she’ll avoid intimate relationships and has a tendency to push people away and/or find ways to make them prove themselves to her.
- Her trust issues mean that she assumes the worst in most situations. People are guilty until proven innocent.
- She has a strong sense of justice and will break laws and betray alliances if the ends justify the means.

Backstory
- Kira came to The Rim with her father, a xenoarcheologist, and her mother, profession unknown. The traded indentured service for passage there.
- When Kira was nine years old, her father’s home office was raided by unidentified armed men who were looking for something. During the raid, Kira’s mother was shot and her father disappeared.
- Kira was taken in as a ward of the company that sponsored her father’s trip. Nothing’s free so she inherited both her mother and father’s service debt, forcing her into indentured servitude on her 16th birthday. her parents owed eight years each plus four for Kira, plus the seven years the company “raided” her making it a total of 25 years service owed.
- At first, Kira expected her father to come back and rescue her but he never did. Kira would later to come to think of him as a heartless coward who let her mother die then ran off and left her to her fate.
- Kira grew up a rebel and acted out against the company at every opportunity. She is smart but deliberately failed academically. She made every effort she could to work her way to the bottom and be of as little use to the company as possible. Ultimately this landed her as an unskilled labourer on a remote mining colony, where she met Maxx,
